HONG KONG, April 15 (Xinhua) -- The Immigration Department of Hong Kong announced new measures here Wednesday to provide easier access to the city for Taiwan residents beginning April 27.

According to the new measures announced by the Immigration Department, Taiwan residents with a valid Chinese mainland travel permit can enter Hong Kong on visitor status and stay for up to seven days from April 27, if normal immigration requirements are met.

A valid entry or exit endorsement for the Chinese mainland is no longer required, the Immigration Department said.

The Immigration Department said the new arrangement will provide visitors from Taiwan with greater convenience and flexibility in planning their journeys.

Two facilitation measures for Taiwan visitors have been implemented since Jan. 1, 2009. A restriction limiting visitors to two iPermit applications within 30 days was lifted, and the period of stay for iPermit and Multiple Entry Permit holders was extended from 14 days to 30.
